CASE STUDY

ARK - $750k Pre-Seed Model Build
Industry: Digital Platform
Project Type: Pre-Seed Financial Model
Stage: Early (Pre-Seed)
Overview
ARK is a safe space for humans to register, store, share, collaborate, discover and most crucially protect your own and other people's ideas. It is an IP library built on blockchain aimed initially at songwriters who want to know that their work is protected.
Challenge
In order to raise $750,000 in pre-seed funding from a US-based VC and Angels, ARK needed a robust, investor-ready financial model that could communicate both credibility and vision. The founders were looking for a model that could not only forecast future performance, but also help them ascertain certain cost impacts and determine pricing structure for their subscription plans.
Our Role / Solution
GRAY was engaged to build a bespoke financial model to help define ARK's tiered pricing subscription business model and raise funds. Working directly with the Founders we developed a dynamic and easy to navigate model that reflected ARK's growth strategy and revenue potential. The model delivered and enabled; price plan decisions, blockchain cost impacts, margin analysis, hiring decisions and fundraising requirements.
Outcome
The financial model played a central role in helping ARK close its $750k pre-Seed raise. We also advised on strategic alignment between the model and the pitch deck, helping ARK unify its brand, numbers, and messaging.
Testimonial
"We came to GRAY in between rounds of seed investment at a critical juncture. What Joe was able to put together in a short period of time was nothing short of exceptional. Not only did the financial model completely realign our strategy, it presented as a seamless companion document and feedback loop for the pitch deck and brand itself.
Joe was able to guide, shape and suggest changes to the overall package that brought the seemingly disparate entities of numbers and copy all under one roof. We would strongly recommend GRAY to anyone attempting to navigate the challenging and sometimes choppy waters of venture capital."
