Joe Hartman is the Founder of GRAY Financial Modelling, a specialist consultancy providing 'investor-ready' financial models for companies at all stages of growth. 

 

Joe has been involved with more than £1bn of investments and fundraisings during his career. As an ex-VC investor and Corporate Finance advisor, Joe brings a rare blend of technical modelling expertise and real-world investment insight, enabling him to build commercially grounded forecasts and investor-ready financial metrics that directly support successful fundraising outcomes.

Before founding GRAY, Joe was an early employee of Octopus Investments - one of the fastest growing investment businesses in the UK - where he served as Investment Director and Deputy Head of Apollo VCT, a £200m growth and buyout fund.

 

Prior to this, he held senior Corporate Finance advisory roles at BDO and Grant Thornton. 

 

He also currently sits on the Investment Committee of Blackfinch Ventures, a seed-stage tech VC.

Having built models as a consultant and reviewed them at Investment Committee and deal stage as an investor, Joe knows what a buyer's team is looking for — because he's been that team.

Today, Joe works closely with Founders, CFOs and investment teams, advising on how to build genuinely “Investor-ready” financial models, and prepare for a successful exit.
